JULIANA HANSEN – LIVE AT STERLING’S UPSTAIRS AT THE FEDERAL Juliana Hansen’s first CD, a live recording of her wonderful nightclub act, is an exciting, vital, and moving program of mostly show songs and some great standards. Miss Hansen was seen in the national tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie in the title role, appeared on nationwide television on NBC’s Grease: You’re The One That I Want, and has done a lot of work for Disney Studios over the years, including her recent vocals on a Disney CD of lost Sherman Brothers songs and a series of Disney in Concert appearances all over the world. The CD is filled with such enduring classics as “A Cockeyed Optimist,” a Disney Princess medley of favorites, including “Belle,” “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” and “A Happy Working Song” (she was the first person to ever perform the latter live), “Moon River” and two rare songs from the flop musical version of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, along with her amazing rendition of Thoroughly Modern Millie’s “Gimme, Gimme,” “Disneyland,” and a wonderful medley of Sherman Brothers songs, and lots more. It was an electric evening at Sterling’s Upstairs at The Federal with a rapturous reaction from the sold-out house. Those who were there knew they were witnessing something very special, and now listeners can relive that experience with this CD.
